Rugby - Champs of BOP/PB

Gisborne Intermediate can claim to be the top school at the annual BOP/PB Rugby Champs. Our girls team swept all before them in an unbeaten run which resulted in them comfortably winning their division. The boys were the real surprise package and after a string of great peformances throughout the day made the final, only to fall at the last hurdle. Our thanks go to Mr Barclay, Mr Lord and Mr Hart for their dedication in coaching the teams. Yet more reasons to be extremely proud of our students!

Buzz the People

Ok everyone - especially Brothers, Uncles, Dads and Grandads.

So far SEVEN people have registerd with Buzz the People and are filling out the occasional online survey. To date those seven people have meant we received a cheque for $43.00. Not much you may think - and you are right, but if 70 people registered and took the time to fill out the occasional online survey - that would be $430.00! Lets be optomistic 700 people could return $4300!!!

There is a shortage of males taking the surveys - it costs nothing but time. Soooooo, basically the more people involved the more money the school makes. We would like to use this money to sponsor students to take part in school based activites where there is a cost attached.

A great fundraising venture that costs nothing other than a little time.  The link is at the bottom of Student of the Week column.

Yummy Stickers for P.E. Gear

Sports equipment 2010

If you are eating apples over summer and they have yummy stickers on them could you please print off the attachment and stick them on.  Your class can hand them in at the beginning of the term.

We raised $257 towards gear averaging only 4 apples per student for the entire year in 2008.  Sixteen apples average would give us $1000 to spend!!!

Student of the Week
Week Six
Year 8
Celeste Wykes
Room 15

Personality plus is how best to describe the effervescent Celeste. Everything she does, she does with gusto and absolute enthusiasm. Her recent inclusion in the Year 8 girls rugby team is evidence of this. Every day begins with a compliment to others showing her empathetic and caring attitude. In class she displays keen perseverance and an inner drive to strive for accuracy. Celeste is the type of student that is unafraid to ask the hard questions and be undeterred until she is satisfied with the answer. It is this quality that makes her a valued member of Room 15.

Year 7
Christopher Niven
Room 20

Christopher works hard in all curriculum areas and is 100% focused inside the class and out of it. He gives everything his all and is always responsible and organised. Christopher treats everyone with respect, he is a an excellent role model for his peers and he demonstrates many old school values/manners that a lot of children today can forget. Room 20 think he is a fantastic person to have as part of the class and value his contribution and attitude on a daily basis.
