Term 3 - Students of the Week

Week Ten

Year 7
Olivia Thomas
Rm 24
Rm 24 has been blessed with a student like Olivia who is always caring and encouraging to all. She gives all sports activities her best, she learns the skills quickly, and excelled in inter-class Ultimate Frisbee and Soccer. In class she has shown she has what it takes to be given a task and complete it to the end.  Her writing is creative and enjoyable to read.  Olivia is a person who has a “can do” attitude and actions out her goals.  Awesome stuff Olivia, you are a pleasure to have at Gisborne Intermediate School!

Year 8
Colby Putnam
Rm 5
Colby is a fun loving, hard working and unassuming student who quietly and consistently enjoys success. He has represented the school in numerous sporting codes such as rugby, hockey, ultimate frisbee, surfing and has impressed both his teacher and classmates with the outcome of his school work.  Most impressively Colby willingly seeks out new challenges and pushes himself to overcoming new and daunting obstacles, most notably and admirably making the school speech finals despite his reluctance toward public speaking. Colby is a delight to teach and a pleasure to have around.

Week Nine

Year 7
Alex Bermingham
Rm 10
Wow …what a student! Alex always has an excellent smile and comes to school each day with a can do attitude. She has excellent social skills and always strives to do her best, preserving with all her school studies. Alex is a very talented Ultimate Frisbee player and dancer to name a few strengths outside the classroom. We love having her in our class, syndicate and school. Alex, Rm 10 salutes you!

Year 8
Travis Brown
Rm 16
Travis is a caring individual who is a pleasure to teach. He shows empathy for others on a consistent basis and is intrinsically motivated to succeed in all areas. He is talented in many areas of sport and his ability to organise a team and bring the best out of all his fellow team mates is impressive. Travis often puts others ahead of himself and is respected by his peers and teacher. His maturity and level headedness allows him to make good decisions that always keep him on the right track to being a successful young man. Well done Travis!

Week Eight

Year 7
Holly Ferkins
Rm 4
Holly is reliable and trustworthy. She always strives for accuracy and has work completed before expectation. Holly is a valued member of class because of her caring attributes and her willingness to help others. She is always optimistic and challenges herself by giving everything a go. Holly is continuously looking at ways to further her learning and step outside her comfort zone by taking responsible risks. Holly takes part in thoughtful class discussion but is also willing to stop and listen to others opinions and ideas, making her an excellent listener.

Year 8
Mollie Hopps
Rm 17
Mollie is an expert self manager who always works to the best of her ability, in and out of the classroom. She holds strong morals which she demonstrates regularly, always striving to be the best she can be. Mollie is true to herself and shows leadership qualities, often quietly leading from within. This sound self belief guides her actions and interactions with others. Mollie is thoughtful and demonstrates a great sense of empathy towards her peers and adults making her a valued member of Room 17.

Week Seven

Year 7
Sean Grimson
Rm 20
Sean is a person who always has a smile on his face. He endeavours to make the most of all opportunities offered to him at GisInt by being involved in as much as he can. Sean is always prepared to extend himself academically, physically and socially. He always strives to put at least a 100% effort into everything, including all the hard work he does as a student council representative. He is an absolute pleasure to teach and know. He is an essential part of Room 20e!

Year 8
Brooke Armstrong
Rm 12
Brooke is a diligent and inspirational member of our class, who is constantly digging deep. Her determined and driven approach to her learning is admirable and she clearly wants to leave GisInt with as much knowledge and as many experiences as she can. Over the past two years Brooke’s leadership skills and confidence have grown hugely.  Brooke is a humble and honest student that has an amazing future ahead of her.

Week Six

Year 7
Zach Pell
Rm 15
Zach has a great maturity about him which puts him ahead of many of his peers. He is extremely considerate and quietly supportive of others.  Zach is a consistently responsible class member who makes valuable contributions on a regular basis. He proved to be a great asset in the school rugby team and is a leader in the classroom. Zach has a great sense of humour and is a great role model to have in Rm 15 and at Gisborne Intermediate.

Jessica Rodgers
Rm 1
Jessica has a very positive and kind nature which makes her a special person to be around. She shows perseverance and is willing to challenge herself. Jessica encourages others to step out of their comfort zone and try new things. She has excellent self -management skills and strives to do her best. She is a role model for others in the positive way she interacts with both teachers and students. Jessica  mixes well with peers and is a highly respected member of Rm 1.

Week Five

Year 7
Josh Moore
Rm 10
Josh is a great all rounder with excellent thinking, social and physical skills. He has certainly proven himself to be a fine role model. Josh always strives hard to complete his learning tasks to a good standard, get along with all students and always has outstanding manners.  Most of all he always has a positive attitude to life, meets challenges and has a great sense of humour. Josh is a great asset to Gisborne Intermediate and a person who is valued by his classmates and teacher.

Year 8
Calla Wharepapa
Rm 13
Calla is a conscientious and hard working student who has a very strong moral conscience. She has impeccable manners and shows high levels of respect to all students and staff. Calla values loyalty, honesty and integrity. She is a warm, positive, happy person with a radiant smile and a kind, caring nature. As a result she is highly valued and a very respected member of Rm 13.

Week Four

Courtney & Emma Hayes
Rm 3
Courtney & Emma are great GisInt role models!  They have a “can do” attitude and give everything a good go! They are not afraid to step out of their comfort zone and are real risk takers. Both are expert self managers with positive attitudes and a fantastic sense of humour! The girls apply themselves well in all learning areas and consistently strive for accuracy, always going the extra mile to complete their work to a high standard in both content and presentation. They are courteous, polite and helpful, as well as reliable and responsible. They may be small in size, but they are big at heart!

Jack Sanders
Rm 24
Jack is a valued member of Rm 24. He sets an excellent example of classroom behaviour that leads others to follow pursuit. Jack has been determined and dedicated to managing his time.   He takes pride in what he achieves but is not boastful. Jack volunteers for lunch time library duty and does so with a smile. Each term we have seen his self confidence grow to new levels, he is now sharing his knowledge, helping others to have success with their work. Jacks actions, always show kindness to others. His ability to relate and have empathy, means others are drawn to be his friend.

Year 8
Yasmine Sener
Rm 14
Yasmine is a confident and capable student who works to a very high standard and completes all set tasks. She has represented GisInt in the Whakatane Exchange, Tauranga Tournament and is a member of the U13 Reps in Hockey. Yasmine is learning to play the guitar. She has a positive attitude and values her education. Yasmine willingly supports other class members and is a respected member of Room 14.

Week Two

Belle Mitford
Rm 10
Where to start... Belle is a great all rounder! She has the ability to look at problems from many different perspectives and achieves well academically across all curriculum areas. Belle has been acknowledged by her peers for her physical, thinking and social skills on the sports field. She is also very humble and can relate to people of all ages in diverse social situations. We are very proud to have Belle in Rm 10 and at Gisint.

Devon Egan
Rm 5
Devon possesses a number of outstanding qualities.  She is a genuine and fun loving classmate, a dedicated student, an empathetic friend and a quiet leader in our room.  Devon consistently persists to achieve exceptional content and quality in her school work. She demonstrates admirable perseverance consistently and is an expert self manager and role model for her peers. Devon is a shinning example of a high achiever!

Week One

Year 7
 Anaysha O’Connor
Rm 11
Anaysha has an absolutely awesome attitude towards everything we do in our class and in our school. She is a quietly confident class member who perseveres at every given task and physical activity that is put in front of her. Anaysha consistently produces quality work which includes excellent presentation. She is a reliable, responsible and respected member of our class. Being a conscientious and diligent person makes her an asset to Rm 11.

Year 8
Margeaux Pittar
Rm 19
Margeaux is a level-headed, determined pocket rocket who is navigating a lofty path to success. Her consistent focus transcends all curriculum areas, including Math Extension where she is a stand out performer. In classroom PE, Margeaux displays true leadership through her superior organisation and direction. She is an expert games player with exemplary strategic thinking and physical skills, not to mention her co-operative and encouraging nature that feeds beautifully back in to the classroom. There is not a single “Habit of Mind” that she is not an expert practitioner in.
